We were there late in the day, so I'd hoped that maybe there would be a two for-one deal or 50% off a dozen. If they offer that then we weren't there at the right time because no deal for us. Offerings on the day of our visit were PB&J, strawberry cake and a chocolate peanut concoction. It appears that the flavourings are only on the top of the doughnut, not baked into the batter. The prices started at $2.80 per doughnut.
Cool décor. -

I knew this place would be adorable because it's owned by the same people who own Freak Lunchbox and if you've ever been to that store, it's super cool even if you don't wanna buy candy or anything at all. I enjoy just going in to look at all the cool art and fun ceilings.
Fortune Doughnut's joins the gourmet doughnut craze, alongside Vandal's which is a couple minute walk down the same street.
I was very happy to learn they had vegan doughnuts (I messaged them months ago to ask and they confirmed) so I was anticipating the opening.
Everything about the shop is awesome. The multicoloured light-up sign outside is an immediate attention grabber. When you enter there's so much to look at that I think you'd have to visit multiple times to see everything. I love all the colourful cute artwork on the walls (so many cats!), the giant doughnuts on the ceiling, the giant 3 eyed cat sculpture behind the cash and so much more.
There was a lineup as I expected (seriously the doughnut craze is real in Halifax) but it moved quickly. They had 2 vegan selections today, vegan banana chick and vegan coconut. I ordered the banana chick because a) It was adorable and Easter themed, b) I love banana.
Although the doughnut was super cute, I didn't find it had a lot of taste besides a oil/greasy taste (not banana) and I found the consistency/texture weird. So I was slightly disappointed but I'd definitely give it another try eventually.
If nothing else, this place is worth a visit just to see how cool it is inside. They also offer coffee and tea to go with your doughnuts. -

Well fortune...I was quite hopeful and excited to try you out! I heard great things. I saw great things. With gourmet donut shops being so trendy, I was excited to compare this new addition, to other halifamous donuts around. Unfortunately, I think your fame is more of an instagramers haven, than a foodies. Your service was lovely and the donuts looked incredible, but when I get 3/4 of the way through a Boston cream without any filling, that's sub par. Very sub far. The other eleven flavours we tried were good, nothing great, just good. But let's get real, it's a donut, it's not hard to make them "just good". If you want to take a trendy, boutique, donut photo, this is the place for you. But if you want a delicious donut to rave about, try Scanways or Rinaldos. I'd say try vandal for proximity, if your willing to battle bad service for a better donut.

I walked pass this donut shop many times as I live close by.. I was craving something sweet and decided to stop in on my way to work. The guy at the front welcomed me in with open arms, I told him I heard alot about the place and asked him what was popular. He was very enthusiastic as he was telling me the different flavors.. I ended up choosing a chocolate icing doughnut with coconut cake crumble on top I believe.. it was delicious! Worth every penny! Perfect size, very filling! Thanks again! I'll be back with my young daughter so she can try!

I had my first donut this evening. It was delicious! The pastry was perfect with just the right amount of icing.
